PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic display device that employs a passive matrix drive excellent in a response speed, and to provide a driving method of the electrochromic display device.SOLUTION: An electrochromic display device 10 includes: a display substrate 11; a counter substrate 12; a plurality of display electrodes 11a, 11b and 11c that constitutes a plurality of conductor pattern rows, respectively has an electrochromic layer and is arranged apart from each other between the display substrate and the counter substrate; a counter electrode 12a that constitutes a plurality of conductor pattern rows and is provided on the counter substrate to face the plurality of display electrodes; and an electrolyte layer that is interposed by the adjacent display electrode, the display electrode adjacent to the counter electrode and the counter electrode. In the adjacent electrodes, respective conductor pattern rows are arranged so as to be orthogonal to each other in a plane view, and in the display electrode adjacent to the counter electrode and the counter electrode, respective conductor pattern rows are arranged so as to be orthogonal to each other. |
