The present invention relates to a device for assisting safe driving of a vehicle and a method for the same which comprises a photographing part for producing image signals about the front and lateral sides of a vehicle; and a control part for determining whether surrounding vehicles will change lanes by detecting the flickering of the turn signals of the surrounding vehicles based on the image signals when operation signals are inputted from an operation switch. According to the present invention, safe and convenient driving for drivers can be improved by warning the drivers about the risks caused by the lane changes of the surrounding vehicles.
