PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte which restrains corrosion of aluminum used as a cathode current collector and thereby makes reduction in battery performance over time less liable to occur, and a lithium secondary battery incorporating the nonaqueous electrolyte.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte of the present invention includes an imide compound represented by general formula (1), a borate compound represented by general formula (2) and/or a boron compound represented by general formula (3), and a carbonate solvent. (XSO)(X'SO)NLi(1); M([BY])(2); BY(3) (In formula (1), X and X' represent a 1-6C alkyl group or a 1-6C fluoroalkyl group, at least X and X' being F.
