PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking force generation system 1 that does not give awkwardness to a driver even when performing automatic restoration of an abnormality.SOLUTION: A braking force generation system includes a master cylinder M/C that generates a braking force dependent on a manipulation performed on an operating element 3, a hydraulic pressure generation means S/C that is connected to the master cylinder M/C so as to be able to be disconnected from the master cylinder M/C by cutoff valves MCV1 and MCV2, and generates a braking force dependent on the manipulation performed on the operating element 3 upon disconnection, an abnormality determination means 2b that repeatedly determines whether the operating state of the hydraulic pressure generation means S/C is abnormal, and a control means 2a that, if the operating state is determined to be abnormal, inhibits generation of the braking force by the hydraulic pressure generation means S/C, opens the cutoff valves MCV1 and MCV2, and transfers the braking force, which is generated by the master cylinder M/C, to the hydraulic pressure generation means S/C. When the determination of the abnormality determination means 2b is changed from an abnormal state to a normal state, if the operating element 3 is manipulated, the control means 2a sustains the inhibited state for generation of the braking force by the hydraulic pressure generation means S/C and the open state of the cutoff valves MCV1 and MCV2 until the manipulation is completed. |
