PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type dryer with high efficiency and high reliability which continues its drying operation even if the ambient temperature is high.SOLUTION: The drum type dryer comprises a heat pump device configured to generate warm air to be fed into a rotary drum. The compressor of the heat pump device is driven by an inverter motor whose rotational frequency can be optionally changed. A controller changes the rotational frequency 37 of the compressor based on the ambient temperature detected by a temperature detection part. The drying efficiency and reliability of the drum type dryer are improved by detecting a case where a refrigerant temperature 36 is likely to exceed an upper limit value by using an ambient temperature, and, in the case, changing the rotational frequency 37 of the compressor to suppress an increase in the refrigerant temperature 36 while continuing the drying operation. |
