PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device able to output high quality video light of high chromatic purity even in use of a fluorescent body.SOLUTION: A video display device in the disclosed invention has two optical modulation elements for modulating light according to a video signal, and comprises: a light source configured to output excitation light which is light of a first wavelength area; a fluorescent body configured to emit fluorescence by being excited by the excitation light; a color separation element configured to separate the fluorescence into light of a second wavelength area and light of a third wavelength area and guide them respectively to the two optical modulation elements; and a color combining element configured to combine the light of the second wavelength area, subjected to modulation, and the light of the third wavelength area, subjected to modulation. |
