PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a normalization device in a small circuit scale.SOLUTION: The normalization device includes: a first bit reversing unit which reverses the sequence of a first bit string representing the mantissa of a floating point number to obtain a second bit string; a shift width correcting unit which corrects a shift width indicated by the exponent of the floating point number; a barrel shifter which logically shifts a third bit string in which a prescribed number of zeros are connected to the second bit string, in accordance with the corrected shift width to obtain a fourth bit string; and a second bit reversing unit which reverses the sequence of the fourth bit string. |
