PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) which can reduce failures in feeding and discharging of documents by smoothening a paper feed path from a paper feed tray to a paper feed port in a document feed path and a paper discharge path from a paper discharge port to a paper discharge tray, and to provide an image reading apparatus having the same.SOLUTION: An ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) comprises a paper feed tray 31, a pair of paper feed rollers 33, a paper discharge roller 40 and a paper discharge tray 41. The ADF further comprises a support mechanism for switching between a first support state in which a movable paper feed tray 51 is supported at a position nearly parallel to a fixed paper feed tray 52 and a movable paper discharge tray 61 is supported at a position nearly parallel to a fixed paper discharge tray 62, and a second support state in which the movable paper feed tray 51 is supported at a position being inclined closer to a paper feed port and the movable discharge tray 61 is supported at a position closer to a paper feed port. The support mechanism switches between the support states by having inclination of the movable paper feed tray 51 linked with the inclination of the movable paper discharge tray 61. |
