PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of achieving weight reduction of a spindle head with hardly generating deformation and distortion.SOLUTION: A spindle head 43 includes a spindle head body 51 provided in an ascendable/descendable manner in a saddle, a spindle 52 rotatably provided in the spindle head body 51 via a bearing mechanism 56, and a rotary drive source 53 rotationally driving the spindle 52. The spindle head body 51 is formed into a square cylindrical shape having a front wall 60, a rear wall 70, both side walls 80 and a bottom wall 90 by carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, stores a bearing mechanism 56 supporting the spindle 52 and the rotary drive source 53 at the inside and has a through hole 91 penetrated and formed to project the spindle in the bottom wall 90. |
