PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of 5-tetradecenoic acid and further 5-tetradecenoic acid methyl safely, in a short process and with a high yield, using commercially available starting materials and without using hexamethylphosphoric triamide or diazomethane.SOLUTION: A production method of 5-tetradecenoic acid methyl is constituted of: a first process of reacting nonanal as a starting material with (4-carboxybutyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide to obtain 5-tetradecenoic acid; and a second process of methyl esterification of the 5-tetradecenoic acid to obtain 5-tetradecenoic acid methyl. |
