PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing chlorine capable of producing chlorine in which the content of bromine as impurities is reduced without the addition of hypochlorite ions.SOLUTION: The method for producing chlorine from a raw material salt by electrolysis comprises: a dissolution step of dissolving a raw material salt into a mixed liquid of water and brackish water to obtain salt water of pH 4 or lower; a diffusion-dechlorination step of performing gas-liquid contact between the salt water and a diffusion gas; a refining step of refining the salt water; and an electrolysis step of, after the regulation of the pH of the salt water to 4 or lower, performing electrolysis to generate chlorine, and the brackish water is the salt water after the reduction of a salt concentration by the passage of the electrolysis step. |
