A dose rate calculation section 22 calculates a spatial radiation dose rate and a statistical relative error thereof on the basis of both historical and current measurement data, if a spatial radiation dose rate based on the historical measurement data obtained from the database 30 and a spatial radiation dose rate based on measurement data obtained by a radiation detector 6 from the start of measurement up to the current moment match each other within a prescribed acceptable range. A measurement control section 21 ends measurement by the radiation detector when the calculated relative error goes below a prescribed reference value.
