PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the drooping characteristic of an AC adapter used for charging compatible with a wider range of drooping characteristics.SOLUTION: In a charging device, at start of charging of a battery pack, a current entered from an AC adapter is controlled so as to rise stepwise from a prescribed minimum value. Then, when the input current rises to a maximum value while the output voltage Vof the AC adapter does not fall below a reference value V, a charging circuit is supplied with power from the AC adapter in that state and charges the battery pack with the received power. However, if Vfalls below Vbefore the input current rises to the maximum value, power supply from the AC adapter is temporarily cut off at that point of time. Then, power supply from the AC adapter to a DC/DC switching circuit is resumed beginning with the minimum value of the input current. |
