PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator in which the noise of discharge sound from discharge electrodes of positive ion and negative ion can be reduced efficiently.SOLUTION: An ion generator 1 includes voltage application means for applying an AC voltage to an electrode, a first electrode for generating positive ions by the voltage application means, and a second electrode for generating negative ions by the voltage application means. A time difference ▵t is provided in the period of an AC voltage applied to the first and second electrodes, respectively. The time difference ▵t is set to ▵t=1/(Fs×2), where Fs is the frequency of maximum noise level composed of a plurality of frequency components generated from the first and second electrodes, and an AC voltage is applied to respective electrodes. |
