600403 Disclosed herein are topical enzymatic wound debriding compositions with enhanced enzymatic activity. These compositions comprise a dispersed phase comprising at least one proteolytic enzyme and at least one hydrophilic polyol; and a continuous phase comprising a hydrophobic base wherein the amount of liquid hydrophilic polyol is within ±10% of the optimum amount. Additional disclosed is a method of determining said optimum amount, and a method for increasing enzymatic activity by using said optimum amount.
