摘要 <p>1293279 Heating fluids by waste gases; generating steam MAGYAR HAJO-ES DARUGYAR 5 Nov 1970 [15 Nov 1969] 52584/70 Headings F4A and F4S In a system in which an intermediate heat transfer liquid is evaporated in a heat exchanger 11 by exhaust gases 12 and is then condensed in a heat exchanger 9 by a cool-fluid stream 3 (e.g. water which is thereby heated or converted into steam), de-aerating means 5 for the heat transfer fluid are provided at the heat exchanger 9, and in the liquid-phase zone if the heat transfer fluid flow path is disposed a flow control device 1 by means of which the liquid flow (and thereby the heat transfer between the heat exchangers 11 and 9) is restricted or stopped. The control device 1 comprises a heater 16, and an inverted U-shaped portion comprising upright limbs 14, 17 interconnected by a U-bend or as shown, by a chamber containing a flow restricting baffle 21. As shown, the heater 16 is positioned on the tube limb 14 and is energized when heat is to be transferred from the hot gases 12 to the fluid stream 3, whereupon liquid rises in the tube 14 and overflows to the tube 17 so that the circulation is commenced. Liquid vaporized in heat exchanger 11 flows via line 22 to condenser 9 at the outlet end of which is the de-aerator 5. Heat transfer is stopped by switching off the heater 16. In a further arrangement (Fig. 4) the heater (25) is in a separate chamber in fluidcommunication with the tube limb 14 and, through a flow restrictor (24), with the condensate outlet of the heat exchanger 9. When the heater is switched on, increased pressure in the chamber initiates and maintains circulation. In the chamber also is a cooler (26) which, when energized, by reducing the pressure in the chamber sucks back liquid from the limb 14 and thus stops flow in the circuit. In another arrangement (Fig. 5) two of the aforesaid circuits are combined in the form of a large output circuit and a small output circuit. Circulation of the heat transfer medium of the small output circuit is initiated by energizing its heater (16a) and the heat emitting heat exchanger in this circuit serves as the heater (25) of the larger output circuit. The whole apparatus is stopped by discontinuing operation of the heater (16a) in the small output circuit.</p>
