1292878 Proofing against fire EASTMAN KODAK CO 13 Jan 1970 [13 Jan 1969] 1581/ 70 Heading D1P Polyester fibres and fabrics, e.g. of polyethyleneterephthalate or poly - 1, 4 - cyclo hexylenedimethyleneterephthalate, are fireproofed by treating at 175-220‹C with one or more compounds (A) containing 40-85 wt. % Br and which may also contain P to give a fabric or fibre Br content of 4-20% and a P content of up to 3%. If (A) contains no P a separate compound (B) may be applied containing 4-20% and optionally up to 20% N. Compounds (A) and (B) must be stable and non-volatile at 175-220‹C and are aliphatic, aromatic or alicyclic compounds having at least 6 C atoms. These compounds may be applied simultaneously or separately from organic (e.g. chloroform) solutions or aqueous suspensions or emulsions. The polyester may contain 0.5-15% Sb, e.g. as Sb 2 O 3 . In examples, the following are used; bis (2,4,6- tribromophenyl) succinate, pentabromophenol/ triphenyl phosphate, pentaibromophenyl acetate, tetrabromobisphenol A and its diacetate, tetrabromobiphenyl, hexabromodiphenyl ether, diammonium-, dimethyl-, or butylhydrogentetrabromophthalate, N-butyltetrabromophthaldiamide, N.N-dimethyl tetrabromophthalamic acid, methyl hexabromonaphthoate, bis (2,3-dibromopropyl) phthalate, 5,6-dibromo-2, 3-norbomanedicarboxylic anhydride, tetrabromodicyclopentadiene, tris(2,3- or 2,4-dibromopropyl) phosphate, di (2,3-dibromopropyl) tribromophenyl phosphate, bis (bromochloropropyl) bromochloroptopyl phosphonate, N, N', N"-tris (2,3-dibromopropyl) phosphoric triamide, tetrabromo bisphenol A/diphenyl phenyl phosphonate and hexabromocyclododecane/triphenyl phosphate.
|
