A computer controlled process for calculating the total establishment cost of a pasture crop plant is disclosed. The computer is programmed to carry out the steps of receiving a land area input; calculating a total fertilizer cost as the sum of at least products of a received input for a nutrient cost per unit area of land divided by 1000 and the received land area input; calculating a total establishment cost as the sum of received inputs for at least two establishment costs per unit area of land and the calculated total fertilizer cost and providing the total establishment cost to the user on a graphic user interface.
