摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a display speed in an optical-writing electrophoretic image display medium.SOLUTION: An image display medium 12 comprises a pair of transparent substrates which are a display substrate 16 and a back substrate 20. In the display substrate 16, a transparent common electrode 18 is formed as layered on a back substrate 20 side; and in the back substrate 20, a transparent electrode 22 for a photoconduction layer, a photoconduction layer 24 showing changes in electric characteristics by irradiation with light, and a pixel electrode 26 disposed in each pixel are successively layered on a display substrate 16 side. A light-shielding layer 28 is layered to block light in a gap between pixels where pixel electrodes 26 are adjoining to each other. On the pixel electrode 26, a dielectric layer 40 for constituting a storage capacitance and a storage capacitance electrode 44 are successively layered in a part of the region of the pixel electrode 26.
