An electric power transmission compensation unit (10) provided with a serial compensation circuit (7) for outputting compensation voltage by a single-phase inverter (14) after rectifying electric power transmitted from an alternating-current source (1) via a second control cable (5b) is installed in a car (3) of an elevator. The output side of the serial compensation circuit (7) is connected in series with a first control cable (5a) for transmitting electric power from the alternating-current source (1) to load equipment (6) in the car (3), and the compensation voltage is superimposed on the phase voltage of the first control cable (5a). The output of the single-phase inverter (14) is controlled by a current waveform control unit (33) in a control device (8) such that the harmonic component of a load current is suppressed.
