<p>A solid combustible product for decorative or analytical (e.g. flame spectrophotometric)use contains a substance (I) which is readily inflammable, burns slowly, and produces a flame which is not or is only slightly, luminous, without smoke or disagreeable odours, and >=1 'colouring' substance (II), capable of emitting aflame spectrum which is visible under the conditions of combustion. The product may be in the form of powder, granules or a shaped object. (I) is pref metaldehyde, polyolefin or polymethacrylate, (II) is pref. a metallic salt, e.g. an alkali(ne earth) metal or Cu salt or a borate, or a substance which produces sparks, e.g. Mg, Al, Zn, Fe or C. The prod. may also contain a substance capable of affecting the rate of combustion, e.g. H2O, Al2O3, SiO2, lime, MgO or KClO3.</p> |
