PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intraocular implant for treating glaucoma without causing significant systematic side effects by delivering a therapeutically effective amount of a vasodilator agent to retinal tissue over a long period for improving retinal blood circulation.SOLUTION: An intravitreal implant comprises a vasodilator agent selected from the group consisting of a muscarinic agent, an endothelin receptor antagonist, and a phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor; and a biodegradable polymer selected from the group consisting of polylactide, polyglycolide, poly(lactide-co-glycolide), and polycaprolactone. |
