PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-vehicle optical communication device that can ensure desired communication quality by suppressing an effect of disturbance light with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle optical communication device, having optical communication transceivers 2, 3, and 4 on right and left of the rear part, and in the center of the front part of a vehicle 1, respectively, performs inter-vehicle optical communication between a preceding vehicle 1F and a following vehicle 1R when a light receiving element 6 of the optical communication transceiver 4 installed in the center of the front part of the following vehicle 1R receives incident light emitted from light emitting parts of the optical communication transceivers 2, 3 installed on right and left of the rear part of the preceding vehicle 1F. The inter-vehicle optical communication device is constituted so that, when a light receiving current flowing in the light receiving element 6 of the following vehicle 1R that receives incident light from one light emitting part of the optical communication transceivers 2, 3 installed on right and left of the rear part of the preceding vehicle 1F exceeds a certain threshold, a light receiving part 5 of the following vehicle 1R receives light from the other light emitting part of the preceding vehicle 1F to perform optical communication between the two vehicles. |
