PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively protect each cell from overcharging with a simple configuration, while a battery is positively being charged until a desired charging voltage level is reached.SOLUTION: The battery pack 1 includes a battery 11 comprised of a plurality of serially connected battery cells 6, 7, 8, 9 and a discharge resistance 19 and a discharge switch 17 that are connected between a positive electrode and a negative electrode of the battery 11 and that discharge the whole battery 11. A second protection IC 13 monitors each of the battery cells 6-9, detects whether or not it reaches a predetermined overcharging detection threshold and, when at least one cell voltage reaches the overcharging detection threshold, turns on the discharge switch 17 to discharge the battery 11. |
