A generator according to one embodiment of the present invention relates to generator for generating electric power by using a horizontally flowing fluid, comprising: a linear reciprocating member provided in the fluid and linearly reciprocating in both directions perpendicular to the horizontally flowing fluid; a first conversion unit for converting linear reciprocating motion into two-way rotational motion and transmitting the same; a second conversion unit for converting the two-way rotational motion into one-way rotational motion and outputting the same; and a generation unit for generating electric power by using the one-way rotational motion outputted from the second conversion unit.
