The method involves actuating an automated clutch of a control unit, and closing the automated clutch during operation of an accelerator pedal during which the rotation speed (DZ) of the output shaft of the drive unit reaches the synchronous rotation speed (SDZ) of the input shaft of the transmission. The output speed is limited during sailing operation of the drive unit. The speed is limited to the synchronous speed during closing of the clutch by the control unit.
