PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new succinimide compound which is useful for applications of an ashless dispersant in a lubricating oil for an internal combustion engine, a friction modifier in a lubricating oil for a driving system, and the like.SOLUTION: The succinimide compound is represented by a general formula (1) mentioned below. In the general formula (1), Ris an alkyl group having a number average molecular weight of 500 or more and below 5,000 or an alkenyl group having a number average molecular weight of 500 or more and below 5,000.
