PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte solvent having large overcharge stability, high ion conductivity and low solvent volatility, and increasing the cycle life and safety.SOLUTION: The electrolyte for lithium sulfur battery contains at least one solution of electrolyte salt in a solvent of at least two aprotic solvents. Component of the solution are selected so that the solution is eutectic or substantially eutectic. A lithium sulfur battery containing such an electrolyte is also disclosed. Performance of the electrolyte and battery is improved significantly at low temperature, by using an eutectic mixture. The aprotic solvent is selected from a group including sulfones which include sulfolane. |
