PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal device which can generate and receive a haptically enabled message.SOLUTION: The mobile terminal device receives the haptically enabled message that includes text and at least one haptic feedback command (302). The device determines the timing of the haptic feedback command within the message (306). When the device receives an indication that the message is being displayed by a user (308), the device synchronizes a haptic effect corresponding to the haptic feedback command (310). The synchronization is based on the timing and the indication.
