PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core optical fiber ribbon unit and an optical fiber cable, capable of facilitating identification of base tape core wires and increasing capacity to store tape core wires by intermittently and hierarchically coupling a plurality of optical fiber ribbons.SOLUTION: An optical fiber ribbon unit includes an optical fiber ribbon serving as a base tape core wire 1, which is formed by arranging a plurality of coated optical fibers in a row on a plane to be integrated with common coating. Two or more of the base tape core wires 1 are arranged in a row on a plane to intermittently couple the base tape core wires adjacent to each other to alternately form a coupling part 14 and a separation part 15 in the longitudinal direction to form a primary coupling tape core wire 2. Two or more of the primary coupling tape core wires are arranged in a row on a plane to intermittently couple the primary coupling tape core wires adjacent to each other at a proportion of coupling part length smaller than that of the primary coupling tape core wire to form a secondary coupling tape core wire 3.
