PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting strategy for avoiding resonance.SOLUTION: A machine comprises an engine 102 operable at various engine speeds including a resonant frequency engine speed. The machine comprises a hybrid motor 118 operatively connected to the engine, the hybrid motor being adapted to supply power to the engine. An electronic control module is configured to control the hybrid motor to supply power to the engine at least until the engine speed exceeds the resonant frequency engine speed.
