PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounting crystal oscillator which achieves the downsizing, the simplification of the manufacturing processes, and low cost of an element, and to provide a mounting method of the surface mounting crystal oscillator.SOLUTION: A surface mounting crystal oscillator includes: a crystal oscillator 4; an IC chip 2 where the crystal oscillator 4 is mounted on one main surface and an oscillation circuit and a temperature compensation mechanism, which form the oscillator with the crystal oscillator 4, are integrated therewith; and a lid 3 which covers the crystal oscillator 4, the lid 3 which fastens an open end edge to a center region of the one main surface of the IC chip 2 leaving an outer peripheral surface thereof and thereby hermetically seals the crystal oscillator 4 while securing an operation space of the crystal oscillator 4. The downsizing and low height are realized by providing external connection pads 11a to 11d, terminal pads 5c, 5f, and an annular metal film 8, which serve as the oscillator, only on the one main surface of the IC chip 2. |
