Provided is a method whereby synthetic rock phosphate that can be used as an alternative to natural rock phosphate is manufactured, making effective use of industrial by-products or industrial waste. This method for manufacturing synthetic rock phosphate is characterized in that a phosphorus feedstock, a silicon feedstock, a carbonaceous material, and an iron feedstock are fed into and melted in a melting furnace (21) and synthetic rock phosphate is produced in the form of phosphorus-containing iron obtained by discharging the resulting phosphorous-enriched molten iron (27). When doing so, in order to increase the saturation concentration of phosphorus in the molten iron (27) and obtain phosphorus-containing iron having a phosphorus concentration of at least 5 mass%, the carbon concentration of the molten iron (27) is preferably made less than or equal to 3 mass%. The obtained synthetic rock phosphate can be used as an alternative to rock phosphate when manufacturing ferrophosphorus or when synthesizing phosphoric acid via a wet method or a dry method. |
