[Class 52(ii)] A chair or the like adjustable into a reclining position has a back 12 and seat 28 both pivoted at 14 on a base or support 10, a downward extension on the back being connected by a link 22 to a link 18 swing- ing on a pivot 20 on the base 10, a further link 30 connecting the seat 28 with the link 18 to raise the seat as the back moves rearwardly. A slotted bar 48 pivoted to the seat can be clamped to the base 10 by a clamp nut to hold the parts in adjusted position. In modified forms of the structure provision is made for altering the lengths of the links and a leg-rest may be pivoted to the front of the seat and operated by a link from a lower extension on the seat back. |
