James & Wells Ref: 133757AU/47 The invention relates to an apparatus for use with a fluid conduit having an outlet to allow discharge of a fluid, the fluid conduit including a manually operated valve, the apparatus including an elongate boom, wherein one end of the boom includes a floatation means such that the boom is responsive to change in fluid levels in a pond, a linkage assembly, characterised in that the linkage assembly is connected to and engages with the valve of the fluid conduit, and is configured to translate the movement of the boom into movement of the valve of the fluid conduit. A method of using the apparatus is also claimed. The present invention broadly provides an apparatus and method of automatically controlling the operation of a valve in a fluid conduit to a pond or sump.
