PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which transmission of data held in a holding part of a second control unit to a first control unit, based on the set cycle, does not delay a reply which is made by the second control unit to the first control unit in response to an instruction from the first control unit.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus performs processing necessary for image forming in a scattered manner. An image forming module 304 performs allocated processing by a submaster control unit 330 and a slave control unit 331, which are connected via a pair of serial communication buses 380 tx, 380rx. The submaster control unit 330 transmits, via the serial communication bus 380 tx, first data causing the processing allocated to the slave control unit 331. The slave control unit 331 transmits, via the serial communication bus 380rx, second data to the submaster control unit 330 during a period when the first data is not received. |
