PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely discriminate the type of forms bearing characters and graphics, a seal of approval, a barcode label, etc.SOLUTION: The form type determination method includes the steps of: extracting an edge by searching an image of a form in a y-direction to create a first edge image which is binarized based on the presence/absence of the edge (S3); creating a first compressed image by compressing the first edge image in an x-direction (S4); creating a first histogram in which black pixels present in the x-direction in the first compressed image are plotted at corresponding positions in the y-direction (S5); calculating a first matching degree by comparing the black pixels present in the x-direction in pre-registered various forms and a first standardized histogram plotted at corresponding positions in the y-direction (S6); and outputting a type discrimination result of the form on the basis of the first matching degree. |
