The invention relates to a roof rack assembly for a motor vehicle, having a roof railing (2) that can be fastened to a vehicle roof (5) of the motor vehicle, and having a load carrier (4) that can be mounted to the roof railing (2). The load carrier (4) is provided with at least one fastening device (6), which after installation of the load carrier (4) encompasses the roof railing (2) on both sides, at least in sections, and which is provided with a latching projection (8), which after installation engages through a passage (11) with a latching recess of the roof railing (2). A covering (10) is provided, by way of which the passage (11) can be locked when the load carrier (4) is in an unmounted state, and a detecting device is provided, by way of which a covered state of the passage (11) can be detected. |
