PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver capable of satisfactorily measuring an output current of a light-receiving element and to provide a monitoring method of a light-receiving current.SOLUTION: An optical receiver 101 includes: a light-receiving element 52 for receiving an optical signal; a bias-voltage supply/monitor circuit 22 supplying a bias voltage to the light-receiving element 52 and generating a monitor voltage that indicates the magnitude of an output current of the light-receiving element 52; and a constant current source 21. The bias-voltage supply/monitor circuit 22 receives a residual current in which the output current of the light-receiving element 52 is subtracted from an output current of the constant current source 21, and converts the residual current into the monitor voltage.
