PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an audio signal for an FM stereo radio receiver.SOLUTION: The device has a parametric stereo (PS) parameter estimation stage. The PS parameter estimation stage determines one or more PS parameters on the basis of a stereo audio signal, which is changed or not with frequency. Preferably, a PS parameter is changed with time and frequency. Furthermore, the device has an up-mix stage. The up-mix stage is constituted so that the improved stereo signal can be generated on the basis of a first audio signal and one or more PS parameters. The first audio signal is acquired from the stereo audio signal by down-mix operation of a down-mix stage, for example. The PS parameter estimation stage may be a part of a PS encoder. The up-mix stage may be a part of a PS decoder. |
