PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element or a light-emitting device which requires no consideration on a work function of an electrode; and provide a light-emitting element or a light-emitting device which can enlarge a range of choice in an electrode material.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device of an embodiment comprises: a first layer, a second layer and a third layer between a first electrode and a second electrode which are arranged opposite to each other. The first layer is a layer having a donor level. The second layer is a single layer or a laminate which includes a layer containing a luminescent material. The third layer is a layer having an acceptor level. The first layer, the second layer, the third layer and a fourth layer are sequentially layered. The first electrode is provided in contact with the first layer. The second electrode is provided in contact with the third layer. The first layer, the second layer, the third layer and the fourth layer are bonded such that when potential applied to the first electrode is higher than potential applied to the second electrode, electron holes generated from the second layer are implanted into the third layer. |
