1330230 Amylase inhibitor BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970 11 June 1970] 20581/71 Heading C3H [Also in Division A5] A polypeptide amylase inhibitor is obtained by the extraction of wheat flour, wheat gluten or coarse-ground wheat with a water/C 1-3 alkanol mixture (10-90% alkanol) or with an aqueous electrolyte solution having a pH of from 1 to 7. Further purification may be effected by concentrating the extract under reduced pressure, filtering or centrifuging, desalting, and lyophilizing the clarified concentrate or precipitating the active material by addition of a C 1-3 alkanol. The product has hyperglycaemic properties and can be used as a medicine (see Division A5). |
