<p>The present invention relates to a continuously variable transmission for a bicycle, which includes: first and second pulleys fixed and coupled to a pedal shaft and a rear wheel shaft, respectively, and provided with a first inclined belt groove and a second belt groove, respectively, both of which grooves have the same shape and have widths which gradually decrease from the outer circumferential portion to the central portion; variable chain belts which rotate while being inserted into the first inclined belt groove and the second inclined belt groove and which have turning radii that are respectively changed at the first pulley and the second pulley as the insertion positions at the first inclined belt groove and the second inclined belt groove are displaced according to the increase and decrease in the vehicle body width; and first and second belt width varying units which are provided at positions directly before the insertion positions of the first inclined belt groove and the second inclined belt groove so as to oppositely increase and decrease the widths of the variable chain belts such that power is transmitted while the turning radii of the variable chain belts are changed oppositely at the first pulley and the second pulley. According to the present invention, power can be variably transmitted in a stable manner, and thus the bicycle can be driven at various velocity ratios depending on the driving conditions.</p> |
