<p>A socket system for a prosthetic device is described that includes an exterior socket housing configured to receive a limb of a patient and an elevated vacuum lining positioned within the exterior socket housing and configured to contact the limb of the patient when worn. A first bladder is positioned between the exterior socket housing and the elevated vacuum lining. A pump is coupled to the first bladder and configured to regulate pressures within the first bladder while a pressure sensor is configured to monitor the pressure within the first bladder. A controller is configured to control the operation of the pump and to maintain the pressure within the first bladder approximately at a target pressure based on a signal received from the pressure sensor.</p> |
