PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic file transmission method which enables a user to safely and easily transmit an electronic file to a receiver.SOLUTION: A receiving device 120 receives an electronic mail 512 including an encrypted electronic file 511 from a transmitting device. By using a public key of a control server 130, the transmitting device encrypts a decryption password required for decrypting the encrypted electronic file 511, then transmits the encrypted decryption password to the control server 130. The control server 130 stores the decryption password and an electronic mail address for a receiver Y of the receiving device 120 who is a proper receiver in association with a file identifier of the electronic file 511. The receiving device 120 transmits the file identifier of the electronic file 511 and the electronic mail address of the receiver Y to the control server 130. The control server 130 transmits the password encrypted by a public key of the receiving device 120 to the receiving device 120.
