More particularly, the invention relates to a chipping apparatus for cutting larger items into smaller pieces, the apparatus having a cutting section and a feed tray, the apparatus further including a tailgate that is attached relative to the tray so as to at least partially close a space between a ground surface and the tray to restrict items being accidentally caught under the tray.
