A feminine care absorbent article 1400 comprises an absorbent structure that is configured for disposition adjacent a female wearer's vaginal region to absorb bodily fluids discharged by the wearer. A shell 1414 supports the absorbent structure at the vaginal region and has an adhesive on a body-facing surface thereof for adhering the shell directly to the wearer. The article 1400 can be folded and unfolded whilst still adhered to the wearer such that, when folded, the anterior and posterior portions 1464, 1466 of the article 1400 are opposed. Securing components 1424, 1444 are provided for securing the article 1400 in a folded configuration whilst it is being worn. The securing components 1424, 1444 can be integral with the shell 1414 or can comprise hook and loop fastening components. Also disclosed are absorbent articles comprising garment securing means, detachment components to facilitate detachment of the article from the wearer and placement aids. The placement aids may comprise a visual cue or tactile sensation, or may comprise a finger strip.
