The device has a tool (5) with a contour (5.1) and another tool (6) with another contour (6.1), where the contours are pressed against each other over a deformation area (4). A radiation source (7) is formed for providing an electro-magnetic radiation which serves a heating of the workpieces (1,2) between the tools. The radiation source is arranged lateral to the tools such that the electro-magnetic radiation is directed from the workpieces and in the deformation area.
