A method for detecting and excluding an abnormal ONT according to the present invention, in a passive optical network (PON) system in which one OLT is connected to a plurality of ONTs by an optical passive device, comprises the steps of: allowing the OLT to receive the optical power levels of the ONTs; comparing each of the received optical power levels with a reference value; if any one of the received optical power levels exceeds the reference value, determining that an abnormal ONT is generated; and detecting and excluding the abnormal ONT.
