PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building having improved quake resistance by using reinforcing members for reinforcing an opening portion, while avoiding the reinforcing members from losing the effectiveness of the opening portion. SOLUTION: In a doorway 12 to an attached garage 11, first and second reinforcing devices 31, 32 are provided. In the usual case that the building 10 is not shaken, both reinforcing devices 31, 32 are located in regions 24a-24c around the doorway 12 not to lose the effectiveness of the doorway 12. In the emergency case that the building 10 is shaken at a set level or more by earthquake, both reinforcing devices 31, 32 appear in the doorway 12 so that both serve as a crossing brace to reinforce the doorway 12.
